COVERED BY HISTORY’ – the DVA QUILT

On Thursday February 24, 2005, members of the VVF ‘IN-Stitches’ Quilting Group were invited to the unveiling ceremony for the quilt made by the group for the Department of Veterans Affairs at DVA headquarters in Grenfell Street Adelaide.

The design & construction of the quilt was a collective effort by all members of the group & was presented to DVA Deputy Commissioner Ms Pam Blamey at our Christmas Dinner in 2004.

At the unveiling ceremony, Pam expressed her appreciation on behalf of the DVA for such a splendid, symbolic & well made Quilt, which the department is proud to display in such a prominent place in the foyer of their building.

Responding for the ‘IN-Stiches’ Quilting Group, Bob Ellis expressed the group’s appreciation for the department’s warm acceptance of their work & that all the members are truly delighted that this quilt is held in such high esteem.

A plaque, outlining the quilt ‘story line’, hangs beside the quilt
