Guidelines for the Use of

Camp Andrew Russell
By MEMBERS

Keys to the camp may be obtained from, the Office Manager, Vietnam Veterans Federation (ph 82962411) 71a Addison Road Warradale. An appropriate banknote donation for your stay would be appreciated and can be made to the Office Manager on collection of keys. Such donation goes to the upkeep and improvement of this facility.

Country and interstate visitors should contact the office by phone 08 82962411, and arrangements will be made to meet them at the Camp if it is not being used at the time of their visit.

On arrival, choose a camp/caravan site, and sign the Visitors Book as this is an efficient means to record usage of this facility.

When settled, unlock the Generator Shed and ensure that generator is full of fuel and oil. The generator may reasonably be used from  0900 to around 2230 or to a time agreed upon, and is to be refueled each morning.

Unlock ablution block and check that it is clean. Please bring 10li of ULP with you to ensure that there is enough fuel to keep the generator running, as there is no camp caretaker.

The generator provides power to the Camp Kitchen and ablution block. Fire extinguishers are located in the Generator Shed and at the Camp Kitchen. These are safety equipments and are not to be tampered with unnecessarily.

Personal generators will be required to provide power to caravans/campsites, and it is requested that these be shut down by 2300hrs unless required to run medical equipment. Revetments have been constructed in which to place generators to minimize noise.

Water in the main water tank next to the Camp Kitchen is safe to drink, but should first be boiled as a precaution to any reaction that could be caused by the mineral content.

The National, State and VVF flags are contained in a ‘flag storage box’, together with a booklet on “Flag Etiquette”, which is located in the Generator Shed. These flags should be raised, each morning (preferably as close to sunrise as possible) and  be lowered at sunset daily.

Persons staying at the camp are responsible for their own rubbish. The rubbish dump is located approximately 500m north of the gate to the camp and all rubbish can be disposed of at the dump at no charge. Pet owners are requested to clean up pet droppings.

Prior to departing the camp, please ensure that:

1. The  area is clean.

2. All camp equipment is returned to its relevant storage area and secured.

3. Make sure generator’s fuel tank is full and turned off at the fuel cock and ignition turned off at the On/Off switch.

4. Lock all buildings.

ALL FIRE BANS FOR OPEN FIRES MUST BE OBSERVED

IN OR OUT OF FIRE BAN SEASON

We hope that you enjoy your stay at Camp Andrew Russell and would be pleased to receive suggestions on how to improve the camp
